Once a program has been accredited by the CMA using the new NOCP's their graduates will be eligible for registration in NS.

USA Paramedic Education Programs

Applicants applying for Registration as an ACP who have successfully completed a Paramedic Education Program, must provide documentation that they are eligible to write the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Exam,(NREMT US Exam) in order to be eligible to write the Nova Scotia ACP Exam.

These Paramedics will be registered temporarily as an ICP until they can sit the NS ACP Registration Exam. Once the Paramedic is successful in completing the ACP Registration Exam they will then be re-registered as an ACP. If they are unsuccessful in completing the ACP Registration Exam they will be re-registered as a PCP with no endorsements. Temporary ICP Registration can last a maximum (1) year. If by that date the Paramedic has not taken the ACP Registration Exam or has been unsuccessful, (s)he will be registered as a PCP with no endorsements.

Applicants with other designations applying for registration based on their education/training will have their Education Program evaluated against the EHS Essential Competencies for the level they are applying for.

Non Canadian/Non-USA Paramedic Education Program

Applicants applying for registration as an ACP based on their education/training will have their Education Program evaluated against the EHS Essential Competencies for the level they are applying for. If their Education Program is approved these Paramedics will be registered temporarily as an ICP until they can sit the NS ACP Registration Exam.
